What to send
- A one-page query letter with the central hook, protagonist, conflict, and stakes.
- A one- to two-page synopsis that includes the ending.
- The first ten pages pasted into the email body.
- Title, genre/category, intended audience, and final word count.
- Two or three relevant comparable titles and why they are useful comparisons.
- A short professional author biography and relevant platform information.
Email format
Use the subject line: QUERY — TITLE — AUTHOR NAME — GENRE.
Send queries to burnsideliteraryagency@gmail.com until the agency’s domain-based submission address is activated.
Do not attach or send the full manuscript unless requested. Simultaneous submissions are welcome. If another agent offers representation, notify us promptly and include your decision deadline.
AI disclosure
Your query must answer truthfully whether generative AI was used to draft or rewrite any portion of the manuscript. Manuscripts written or rewritten by generative AI are not considered. Standard spelling, grammar, and accessibility tools do not automatically disqualify a submission.
Professional terms
- No reading fees.
- No guaranteed representation, publisher submission, offer, or sale.
- Sending material does not create an agency-client relationship.
- Representation begins only after both parties sign a separate written agreement.
- Our response window is approximately four to six weeks. If you have not heard from us after six weeks, please consider the query declined.
